Appearing Sunday 16th May

Chris Wood makes an eagerly anticipated return to the Festival on Sunday night.

"Chris takes a song and has you absolutely gripped.... He has managed this magical thing, writing songs on contemporary themes, or putting music to others' words, that fit hand in glove with traditional songs, but are totally modern."

"....an intriguing blend of the witty and easy-going and the quietly passionate, angry and emotional. He is also the finest and most original singer-songwriter to have emerged from the British folk scene since Richard Thompson."

Supporting Chris on Sunday night are Crucible...
Four joyfully distinct voices combined with a range of traditional instruments.
They perform an exciting mix of energetic tunes, rich and evocative harmony singing and subtle accompaniment for a unique programme of English traditional material, ably complemented by their own compositions in the same style.

Audiences find themselves spell-bound
at the life and emotion they inject into
every performance.

"Crucible hit centre target for the audience every time.

Featured at Sunday's Jazz Cafe are
Richard Exall's Shooting Stars.

The HOTTEST and most versatile 6-piece jazz outfit under the stars! The front-line, having worked together in the Big Chris Barber Band, share a love and respect of all forms of jazz but have their roots firmly planted in the vintage, golden period of jazz history. They are most at home playing beautiful melodies and stomping jazz from the 20's 30's and 40's, where they can exploit the bands virtuosity, with exciting solos and tight ensemble passages.
